Who knew, as a child digging in the dirt behind her best friend’s house, that Carol would one day pay money to do that, participating in three archaeological digs?

Little did Carol know, while learning American history in school, that she would live near Virginia's colonial capital? Or when she studied Greek and Roman theatre as part of her degree, she would visit these sites?

Visiting 44 states and over 30 countries, history and travel have become passions for Carol, and she loves to share them with others. Having lived in six states, Italy, Greece, and Germany, Carol enjoys meeting new people, exploring new cultures, and learning about their history.

During strict COVID lockdowns in Bavaria, her son, Ian, challenged her to join him in a writing challenge, and The MacKay Mysteries were born. During her time in Bavaria, she learned about the ancient Celts of Bohemia, leading to The Dùn Cael Mysteries.

Back in Virginia, she returns to The MacKay Mysteries just in time for the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Carol enjoys hiking, kayaking, and playing in her garden. She now lives in a 200-year-old house in Southwestern Virginia with her husband, Dave, their two cats, and Widgit, their adorable Corgi-Border Collie mix.
